I really need to be focusing on those counter stool cushions but I need a break from black and brown yarn.  Enter.....

and gold.  One of the gals at my knitting-crochet group was working on the neatest doily and I talked her into sharing the pattern.  Actually she did more than give me the pattern....she gave me a one on one private tutor session on it.  It's a bit complicated but thanks to her I've gotten the hang of it now.  It's going to be very cool.  I can't wait to show you the finished product.

I have to do this all the way around it and check out the size of the hook.

It's very very tiny!  I'm going to use this doily under a big candle for a Christmas decoration.  So that's distraction number one.

Then there's this charity knitting for the hospitals here.  I don't feel as guilty doing this because it's for a good cause but soon....very very soon.... I need to quit fooling around and get back to that counter stool project!  Sigh

My counter stool cushions are in need of covering and I decided to crochet them in a sturdy cotton yarn rather than sew them.  Mainly because I'm a big fan of texture and also because I figured they would wear better.  Of course it would have been quicker to sew them and had I realized how boring this project would turn out to be I may have gone with that quicker method but I'm into it now

so there's no turning back.  I have four to do and I only have one and three quarters of another done so far.  The seat part is done in the Bean stitch in black no less.....

it doesn't get much more boring than that!  I may not survive this project.  The border is in the Jasmine stitch

and that one is a lot more fun though the color isn't all that exciting but it matches the decor and we have to match the decor.  We just have to.....that's all there is to it.

I'm doing the side in a stretchy crochet rib stitch.....again in black.  Need I say more.....BOORRING!!!

Yikes...it's been a while since I've posted.  My favorite little city girl is back for an extended visit while her person is off taking care of business again.

She's such a sweet heart and I like to think she loves the farm life.  She seems to enjoy watching the gardener mow with little Louie

though I can't for the life of me see what's so fascinating about that.

But spending summer evenings hanging out on the back porch with the Hooligans is something we all enjoy.  And there's always this

for as far as the eye can see.....in the field next to us.....and we've been watching it grow. This morning the tassels finely appeared. LOL

I wonder what my little city girl thinks about that?!  LOL  Don't let that side eye fool you.....I think she's having the time of her life here on the farm.  It has to be relaxing to get away from all that crazy in DC.
